What should I wear to a session?
Anything you want! Keep in mind though that these portraits will be around for a long time, so, for example, if your session is in the summer, an all tank top wardrobe may not be appropriate. Also solids ALWAYS photograph better! Try to avoid clothing with large stripes or wording, it tends to cause distraction on the print. Clothing should be flattering but not overpowering..which leads us right into the ironing reminder. Make sure your clothes are pressed and neat to avoid wrinkles. If you have tan lines, we'd suggest that the outfits that you choose not emphasize on those spots. In all cases, it's better to bring a variety of outfits to better personalize your session with our sets.
What about Makeup?
Hair- Hair styling should be appropriate to the clothing selection. Avoid new hairstyles or having drastic cuts so close to the time of your session to allow you to adjust to the change. If you would like to change your hairstyle during your session, this would add a little more variety to your photographs. It should, however, be a simple change that can be done quickly.
Makeup- Makeup for photography should be done slightly heavier than normal. Too much might give you a "painted" look, but too little may not show off your features. Since photographs concentrate on eyes, great care should be taken to eye makeup. Avoid excessively bright colors that are trendy now and won't be ten years down the road. Watch out for nasty mascara clumps as well. Also, a little extra concealer on those pesky zits will provide better coverage.
Grooming- Hair and Makeup should be done and ready to go at the time of your scheduled appointment. Come ready to smile! Guys- make sure that you are clean shaven! Retouching can hide blemishes, but not razor stubble. Any mustaches or beards should be neatly trimmed.
What should I bring?
Personalized props always make for a unique portrait. Things such as sports equipment, jerseys, musical equipment, even your pet, if you want.
